What is a starter fertilizer?
Starter fertilizers are most commonly liquid fertilizers that are applied close to the seed or plant at planting or transplanting. Starter fertilizers generally contain nitrogen and phosphorus with the nitrogen in the form of ammonium. Ammonium has been found to enhance phosphorus uptake (Havlin et al.,1999).
